Lesson 1: The Assurance of Salvation

The History of Mankind and the Human Condition:

Before we can understand how we receive our salvation and everlasting life through Jesus, we first need to understand how we (mankind) came to be in our current condition.

“He created them male and female, and He blessed them and named them Man in the day when they were created.” (Genesis 5:2) “…He made from one [man] every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth,.., that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us” (Acts 17:26-27).

The name Adam means, mankind. In Genesis 3 we see that the first man and woman went against God’s command by doing what they were told not to do in Genesis 2:16-17. The entire human race came into existence through Adam after he had sinned.

What is sin? (1 John 3:4, James 4:17)
How did Adam’s sin affect mankind? (Romans 5:12)
Is there anyone that is not affected by Adam’s sin? (Romans 3:10, 23)
What is the result of sin? (Isaiah 59:2)
People try many ways to earn God’s forgiveness yet fail. Why? (Ephesians 2:8-9)

God’s Plan of Salvation:

“The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet [you] with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” (Zephaniah 3:17 NKJV)

Explain how God draws us back to Himself using the following scriptures?

(Romans 6:23)
(1 Corinthians 15:21-22, 45)
(Romans 5:8)
(1 Peter 3:18)
(John 3:16)

“He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life” (1 John 5:12) “that if you confess with your mouth Jesus [as] Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.” (Romans 10:9-10)

Your Response:
Do you know you have been saved? ____Yes ___No
Do you know you have received eternal life? ___Yes ___No

If you answered no, is there anything keeping you from giving your life to Christ right now? You should ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins, come into your heart, and be the Lord of your life right now! Conclusion: If you have believed and confess this, then you are saved.

Congratulations, you are a child of the Heavenly Father!

You can also ask Him to fill you with His Holy Spirit so you can live the victorious life He died to give you! Eternal life does not only mean you will live forever; life with God also means that we are able to live a life of holiness, righteousness, kindness, and strength. We will forever receive the blessings of God! Believing in Christ not only means you will have eternal life, but starting right now, you have a new life, letting you feel peace, happiness, and blessings at this very moment. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

If you sin again, are you still saved?

(Hebrews 10:26; 1 John 1:6)
(1 John 1:7-9, 2:1)

Tell others:

When you receive this great salvation, your life is full of joy and peace! You should share this good news, tell people what you have learned. In addition, as you learn these lessons train others to share and to train others they know. In this way, the good news of the gospel will spread and continue to grow, and many others will be saved also.
